Białowieża Forest and kayaking trips

The Białowieża Forest is Europe's last lowland forest preserved in its natural state – a UNESCO site, home to the European bison, wolf and thousands of species unique on a continental scale.

Why is the Białowieża Forest so special?

The forest has retained its primeval character thanks to centuries of protection – first as royal hunting grounds, then as nature reserves. It has trees over 500 years old, a bison population of over 700 individuals, and deadwood left in the forest creates a unique ecosystem.

Kayaking around the Forest

The Narewka – the river on which we run our trips – rises in the Białowieża Forest and flows through its buffer zone for most of its course. It's the best way to see the forest landscape from the water, without disturbing the strict nature reserves.

How to get there

The base for our trips is in Narewka (Hajnowska 31a, 17-220 Narewka), 25 km from Białowieża. You can combine a kayaking trip in the morning with a visit to the Bison Show Reserve or the Nature and Forest Museum in one day.
