The Narewka River – kayaking trips

The Narewka is one of the most beautiful rivers in Podlasie – wild, winding and surprisingly clean. It flows through the Białowieża Forest and its buffer zone, offering paddlers real contact with nature.

River characteristics

The Narewka is about 80 km long and is a right-bank tributary of the Narew. It flows slowly, gently winding through meadows and forests. The riverbed is sandy, gravelly in places; the depth usually doesn't exceed 1–2 metres, which makes it safe even for beginner paddlers.

What you'll see on a Narewka trip

  • Beaver lodges and signs of their work on trees by the bank
  • White-tailed eagles and lesser spotted eagles – the Białowieża Forest is their home
  • Grey herons, cormorants, kingfishers
  • Old, naturally fallen oaks and hornbeams
  • Floodplain meadows full of birdlife
